About Me:
An Author's Purpose

My life is an open book, pun most certainly intended. I've always been open about the struggles—the beautiful, the ugly, and mediocre—that I've faced in the 34 years of life on this spinning rock in space. I grew up in the beautiful Appalachian mountains of Kentucky, and I'm very proud of that fact. The rich heritage and history is often woven in my stories, though I am not blind to the ugly underbelly of my culture either. I am a first-generation college student.

Through my life, I've struggled with my gender identity and sexual orientation along with my mental health, and that is often reflected in my work. My work tries to achieve several goals. Almost all of my stories are horror or dark in nature and attempts to stimulate that sliver of something, that shiver that sends the hair at the nape of your neck standing when you read a good description of a creature or that creepy turn of words that almost transforms the world into something too real. I want you to come away from the story remembering it.

But, I also want you to feel seen and included. Growing up, I was so confused, because there was no one in the media that felt like I did, that seemed to like girls and boys (I had the biggest crush on Sigourney Weaver in the movie Aliens). I thought there was something intrinsically wrong with me. I don't ever want anyone to ever feel that way again. My characters are diverse, whether they are included in minority groups or the LGBTQIA+, or they are struggling through a hardship in their life and are facing mental health struggles. It may not always end well for them (when does it ever in horror?), but they are not defined by these characteristics. My characters are not 'othered' by their differences. It is a simply a part of them.

I've written prolifically since I was young, finishing multiple book-length stories by the age of nineteen (notice I did not say these were good). I've been published before, but I want to reinvent myself, using a new pen name and a new identity that reflects the different person I've become. As I've changed, so has my writing. Are humans nothing but ever-evolving pieces of art?

I'm excited about my new projects, and I have several new stories in the publishing process. Stories of ghosts with unfinished business, of sisters bound by the moon, of godlike entities consuming the universes to begin again. I continually look forward with shining eyes. What will my future hold? Realms are on the horizon, ready to be created by my fingertips.

I'm always fascinated in meeting new people and learning different viewpoints. If you've read my work and you just want to talk, please don't hesitate to email me, or to interact with me on twitter (not X, I refuse to call it that) or Facebook. I like to just jabber, and nothing's more fun than meeting new friends. I'm always looking to challenge myself, so if you're interested in collaborating or working with me, please reach out. I'm a pretty fun person, or so I've been told (and I'd like to think they meant it as a compliment—helps me sleep better at night).

As a last note, trans right are human rights. That just needed to be said—well, honestly it shouldn't have to be said; it should be common sense. But, that's where we are, isn't it?
